HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-06-17 Special Meeting MinutesSpecial City Council Meeting Meeting Minutes ►'HF CITY of Tuesday, June 17, 2025 @ 5:30 PM manna Anna Municipal Complex - Council Chambers 120 W. 7th Street, Anna, Texas 75409 The City Council of the City of Anna met on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 5:30 PM, in the Anna Municipal Complex — Council Chambers, located at 120 W. 7th Street, to consider the following items. 1. Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of Quorum. Mayor Cain called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM. Members Present: Mayor Pete Cain Mayor Pro Tern Stan Carver II Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Elden Baker Council Member Kelly Herndon Council Member Manny Singh Members Absent: Council Member Kevin Toten Council Member Jody Bills 2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Baker led the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Neighbor Comments. No comments. 4. Proclamation recognizing Anna neighbor Bryce Denton. (Mayor Pete Cain) Mayor Cain presented Anna Neighbor Bryce Denton with a Proclamation declaring June 17, 2025, as Bryce Denton Day in recognition of Bryce's many accomplishments. 5. Items For Individual Consideration and Public Hearings. a. Consider/Discuss/Action on an Ordinance Canvassing the June 7, 2025, Run- off Election. (City Secretary Carrie Land) A quorum of two City Council Members are required to canvass the election. Canvass is a mandatory, ministerial duty. Each local canvassing authority shall convene to conduct the local canvass at the time set by the canvassing authority's presiding officer, not later than the 11th day after the election. Section 67.004 provides that the presiding officer of the canvassing authority shall note the completion of the canvass in the minutes or in the recording required by Section 551.021 of the Government Code. On June 7, 2025, a Run-off Election, for the purpose of electing one city council member for a three-year term, was held. Each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: Allison Inesta 178 Nathan Bryan 313 Nathan Bryan is hereby elected as Council Member, Place 2 of the City for a term of three (3) years. MOTION: Mayor Pro Tern Carver moved to approve. Council Member Herndon seconded. Motion carried 5-0. 6. Adjourn. ATTEST: Mayor Cain adjourned the meeting at 5:39 PM.
