Street, to consider the following items.
1.Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of Quorum.
2.Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.
3.Neighbor Input:
At this time, any person may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding
an item on this meeting agenda that is not scheduled for public hearing. Also, at this
time any person may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding an item
that is not on this meeting agenda. Each person will be allowed up to three (3) minutes
to speak. No discussion or action may be taken at this meeting on items not listed on
this agenda, other than to make statements of specific information in response to a
citizen’s inquiry or to recite existing policy in response to the inquiry.

Re: Parks Maintenance and Programs and Events Update

The Parks Division completed the following:
• Mowed 265 acres at parks and city facilities.
• Tested all irrigation systems at city parks and facilities and completed necessary repairs.
This includes replacing 3 rotors and 1 main line repair at Slayter Creek Park and City Hall
Complex.
• Applied post emergent herbicide on FM455 medians, Oak Hollow fence line, Slayter
Creek Park landscape beds an disc golf course tree lines, City Hall Complex landscape
beds, and tree rings at Sherley Heritage Park and Johnson Park.
• Trimmed trees along the trail between Natural Springs Park and Baldwin Park.
• Designed and laid out the soccer fields at Slayter Creek Park and Geer Park. Painted field
boundaries/lines and set up goals in preparation for the upcoming youth soccer season.
• Two Park employees earned their Certified Pool Operators (CPO) certifications.
• Two Park employees attended Year 1 Park Planning and Maintenance Academy by
Southwest Park & Recreation Training Institute.
• Installed new LED lights fixtures in the restrooms at Slayter Creek Park.
• Conducted a playground safety audit at John Flavel Greer Park (South End).
• Applied insecticide to all athletic fields.
• Repaired 40 feet of privacy fence at Sherley Heritage Park.
• Prepared ballfields at Slayter Creek Park for rentals and adult softball leagues.
• Recorded chemical readings (9am,1pm, 4pm) at the splash pad and performed daily
maintenance each morning. Added chlorine and muriatic acid when needed.
• Inspected 6 restrooms each morning and restocked throughout the week.
• Cleaned and inspected 5.5 miles of walking trails each week.
The Programs and Events Division offered and/or completed the following:
Youth and Teen Programs:
• Summer Recess Pop-up Recreation on July 22 (MiMi Zucchini’s Rainbow Bubbles Show)
and July 29 (Gregg Ka-Zam Magic).
• Registration closed for 4U-10U Fall Youth Soccer leagues and practices started the week
of August 11.
Adult programs:
• Summer Recreation and Advanced division Adult Softball Leagues playoffs concluded
the week of August 11.
Adults 50+ programs:
• The Crafting Corner “Diamond Painting” on July 30
• Parks Capital Improvement Projects Update July 31
• Book Club on August 6
• Trip to Dallas Farmers Market and Reunion Tower on August 9
• Foodie Troop on August 19
All ages program:
• Parks Bingo closed on August 16
Hosted the following events:
• National Pickleball Day at Slayter Creek Park on August 8
For the month of May, prepared for and processed 13 pavilion/gazebo rentals including the following:
• 12 Slayter Creek Park Pavilion
• 1 Slayter Creek Park Baseball Fields
Department leadership continues to meet bi-weekly with Freese and Nichols to discuss updates to the
Parks Master Plan. Staff has reviewed Chapter 1 and is in the process of reviewing Chapter 2 of the plan.
The Neighborhood Services Department, including the Parks Maintenance, Parks Planning, Library and
Program and Events divisions met on July 30 for their quarterly department training and luncheon. The
training included division updates, professional goals assessment and updates, personal and leadership
reflection on highlights from the 3rd Quarter, and a “Get to Know Your Fellow Departments”
presentation by the IT department.

Re: Park CIP Project Update

Updates for active Park CIP projects in August are below.
Natural Springs Park Erosion
• The developer is in the process of turf establishment with temporary irrigation.
• Curlex will be utilized to help stabilize the soil in the area around the trail connection into the
park.
• The drainage situation at the southeast corner of the park will be addressed when Arden Park
has completed construction operations.
Pecan Grove Trail
• Project is complete; warranty period has begun.
Finley Park
• Construction documents are progressing.
Park System Master Plan Update
• Trail master plan work is beginning.
• Survey results are being evaluated and organized.
Slayter Creek Park Projects
• Playground contract will go to Council second meeting in August for approval.
• Playground demolition will begin in late September.
Bryant Park
• AISD has reviewed latest master plan showing additional parking attached to the school’s
parking lot and have approved.
• Design is progressing.
John Flavel Greer Park – Woods at Lindsey Place Park
• Waiting for the site to be energized by Oncor; meter will be set once account is set up.
Carol Park
• Work is progressing on the trail by JPI.
• A minor metes and bounds adjustment to the dedication tract is in progress.
• Grading work is progressing for NRP on central area of the park.
Wayfinding Project
• Adding signs to the project for newly completed parks.
• Project should bid late August.

ANNA PARKS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

The Parks Advisory Board of the City of Anna met at 6:00 PM, on July 21, 2025, at Anna Municipal Complex, located at
120 W. 7th Street, Anna TX 75409, to consider the following items.
1. Call to Oder, Roll Call and Establishment of Quorum
Parks Advisory Board Member Susan Jones called the meeting to order at 6:02pm.
Quorum was established. Following Parks advisory board members were in attendance Susan Jones,
Nichole Hunt, Alastair Hunte, Choya Morrison, David Colegrove, Kennon Weaver and Rachel Sinagra. Staff
present included Park Planning and Development Manager Dalan Walker, Acting Director of Neighborhood
Services Jeff Freeth and Council Member Kevin Toten.
2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance
a. Parks Advisory Board Member David Colegrove led the Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer.
3. Neighbor Comments
a. Andy Michrina presented concerns about Sherley Heritage Park.
4. Receive a Report
a. Received a report on parks maintenance and recreation programs and events. (memo)
5. Project Update
a. Received report on CIP Project Update. (memo) 6. Items for Individual Consideration
a. Discuss, Consider, Action on Slayter Creek Parks Amenities.
MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member David Colegrove made a motion to recommend to City Council the
approval of Slayter Creek Park renovations as presented by staff, which includes a new playground design;
updated pavilion, the additions of a barbecue island and sand volleyball court. Second by Alastair Hunte.
Motion carried.
b. Discuss, Consider, Action on Parks Advisory Board Meeting Minutes for June 16, 2025.
MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Alastair Hunte made a motion to approve the meeting minutes. Second by
David Colegrove. Motion carried.
7. Items for Future Consideration - None.

Parks Advisory Board member Susan Jones adjourned the meeting at 6:55pm.
