HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-01-14 Regular Meeting Minutes CITY COUNCIL MEETING ANNA CITY HALL JANUARY 14, 1997 The city council of the city of Anna met in regular session on the 14th day of January 1997 with the following members present and participating: Mayor, Ron Ferguson, Bob Estep, Debbie McIntosh, Lisa Copeland, Joe Murphy. Duane Hayes was absent from this meeting. The meeting was called to order at 7:33 p.in. by Ron Ferguson The council opened a sealed bid from Aerators, Inc. for the amount of$26,262.00. The lowest bid was still Aerornix Systems at$19,281.00. Debbie made motion to accept the bid from Aeromix Systems under the 1995 TCDP project, Lisa seconded. Motion carried Item#4, Thn presented bids for installing electrical equipment, there were three bids submitted A) Sanford Electric for$23, 500.00 B)Plyler construction for$33, 000.00 C).North Texas Municipal Construction for $27,300.00. Debbie made motion to except the lowest bid from Sanford Electric for$23,000.00 under the 1995 TCDP, Bob made seconded. Motion carried Item $5, the council met with Pat Dillon for consideration and action on first time sewer system service under the 1995 TCDP. Pat informed the council of the residents that will be tied into the sewer with the grant funds. No action taken The council met with Cliff Moore regarding animal control prior to recessing into executive session, Cliff discussed the needs of the city and presented a contract. Item 48, Bob made motion to accept AN ORDINANCE ALTF,RTNG THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ESTABLISHED FOR VEHICLES UDDER THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 169(B) OF ARTICLE 6701 D, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUES, UPON STATE HIGHWAY NO. FIVE (5) OR PARTS THEREOF, WITHIN THE INCORPORATE; LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ANNA, AS SET OUT IN TRIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FIDE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00 FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. Joe seconded. Motion carried. Section II, Joe made motion that THE MAYOR OF ANIMA IS BEREBY AUTHORIZED TO CAUSE TO BE ERECTED, APPROPRIATE SIGNS INDICATING SUCH SPEED ZONES. DEBBIE SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED Debbie made motion for Section III, ANY PERSON VIOLATING ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF TINS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GliILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION THEREOF SMALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRE:iD DOLLARS ($200.00). Joe seconded. Motion carried. Item#9, tabled. No action taken Item #10, Lisa made motion to table until further information was present regarding tax rate for senior citizens. Debbie seconded. Motion carried Item 11, Lisa made motion to hold city council meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. .Toe seconded. Motion carried The city council recessed into executive session at 9:20 p.m.. The council reconvened into regular session. It was asked of Monica to put an ad in the paper for the City Secretary position. The council discussed the animal control contract. Debbie made motion for Mayor Ron Ferguson to negotiate the service contract as a 90 day trial bases.
