FEBRUARY 18 , 1997
The city council of the city of Anna met in workshop session
on the 18th day of February 1997 with the hollowing members
present and participating : Mayor , Ron Ferguson , Bob Estep ,
Debbie McIntosh, Lise Copeland , Duane Hayes and Joe Murphy .
The meeting was called to order at 7 : 35 P .m. by Ron Ferquson .
Ron stated that he had several pages in the packet at the
last meeting . He wanted to know how they wanted to go about
discussing the road repair , 1) What you want to fix? 2 ) How
you want to fix it? Debbie stated that they should review
the work orders first to see where the most complaints are
coming from. The Council found that most of the complaints
came from Riggins Street , Interurban Street and Edwards
Street . The Council stated that the 1 99 7 budget allowed
27 , 839 . 00 for road repair . Debbie stated her concern
regarding the complaint on Harper Street , where the Handicap
bus has trouble going down . Joe stated he thought this was
private property . Ron stated that the Council needs to find
out what roads are city property before we begin repairs .
Joe asked it the city had the funds to Pay for the repairs .
Ron stated that the city had the funds . He also stated that
we could spend 30 , 000 on road repair and that would not be a
Problem. Joe ask if the county would do dirt work at cost .
Bob stated that in the past the county said they would and
then when the time game, they were always too busy . Bob also
stated that it is up to the Commissioner . Bob stated that the
new Commissioner vowed to help us . Lisa ask it we should
complete on road and patch the others . Ron stated that we
need to patch some of the roads before they totally fall
apart . Some of the others we need to just tix and every year
we need to fix at least one road. Bob stated his concern
about South interurban. He suggested they fix this road and
also to connect it to Edwards Street . Ron stated that we do
. not have the right of away to do this . Lisa stated her
concern about 7th Street , Ron stated we need to go about
this three ways : What we need to Patch, What we need to
rebuild and What we need to get ready to rebuild. Bob stated
we need to go out and determine which roads we can salvage
and which ones we cannot . He also stated, we need to salvage
what we can first . Debbie stated that if you fix 7th Street
then you will need to Kx Rigqins , because of the trucks from
the Steel Mill . Ron stated we need a long range Plan on road
repairs . Bob stated we need to survey the roads first . Joe
stated we need to find out which streets receive the most
traffic . Debbie stated we need someone to survey the streets
to decide which streets to patch. We also need to term a.
committee to go around pick out the roads to be Patched and
make a list . Then present the list to Burk to see what price
he will charge us . on ask Joe to survey the roads and make
a list of all roads that need to be repaired . Joe stated his
concerns about the water flow in the ditches . He stated we
need to fix the ditches before we can make repairs on the
roads . Bob stated that he would find out more information on
the right of away on some of the streets , so we can qo to
work on them. After some discussion the council made some
assignments were made . Bob will ride around town with Burk
to find out some information on the road repair and patching
the roads . Joe will ride around to find out what cannot be
patched. Ron and Duane will go over some tioures to find out
exactly how much money can be used on road repair . Tabled
until the information of these assignments are brouqht
forward at the March ii , 1997 City Council Meeting.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
9 : 20
