ADA grievances may also be directed to the ADA Coordinator or filed online at https://annatexas.gov/ada Memorandum 2026-15-06 June 15, 2026 Park and Recreation Advisory Board Jeﬀ Freeth, Director of Community Services Parks Maintenance and Recreation Update This memorandum is a summary of recent Parks Maintenance and Recreation activities, including administrative updates, facility reservations, parks maintenance operations, recreation programming, special events, and Keep Anna Beautiful initiatives. Administrative Updates • Staff attended the Healthy Play Education and Funding Initiative seminar to evaluate potential grant funding opportunities. • The Director of Community Services facilitated “What Is Your Why?” training for newly hired employees. • The Q3 Community Services Department meeting was conducted on April 26. • The Community Services department’s FY 2026–27 budget proposal was submitted for review and consideration. • The city was recognized with the Excellence in Community Service Award at the Trusted World Awards Breakfast. • Staff continued coordination with LT Consulting regarding the Community Recreation Center feasibility study. • The Anna 2050 Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan was adopted by Council on May 12th. • The Director of Community Services provided city council on Anna 2050 Parks, Open Space, Trails, & Recreation Master Plan Next Steps and Community Services Programs and Operations on May 26. • On May 26 a presentation was made to Council on Collin County Regional Trails Master Plan and Trail Planning & Implementation. Facility Reservations April Reservations John Flavel Greer Park Pavilion 1 Natural Springs Park Gazebo 2 Sherley Heritage Park Pavilion 8 Slayter Creek Park Pavilion 7 May Facility Reservations John Flavel Greer Park Pavilion Natural Springs Park Gazebo Sherley Heritage Park Pavilion Slayter Creek Park Pavilion Slayter Creek Park Ballﬁelds Parks Maintenance Division • Maintained athletic fields at Slayter, Johnson, and Greer Parks through mowing, aeration, fertilization, field preparation, chalking, and routine ballfield maintenance. • Provided mowing and grounds maintenance for park properties, including Slayter Disc Golf Course, Bryant Park, Finley Park, and other City-owned sites. • Completed routine, monthly, and storm-related inspections of playgrounds, fitness courts, splash pads, and park amenities. • Cleaned and serviced park facilities, including restrooms, splash pad features, playground surfaces, and public areas. • Performed trail maintenance and post-storm cleanup, including debris removal, tree trimming, and trail inspections. • Maintained landscaped areas through seasonal planting, mulching, bed treatment, tree- ring maintenance, and weed control activities. • Enhanced park appearance and safety through shrub trimming, tree maintenance, dead tree removal, and hazard mitigation. • Completed park infrastructure repairs, including windscreens, court gates, lighting, and irrigation systems. • Coordinated contractor lighting repairs at Slayter Creek Park. • Maintained public spaces by clearing walkways and turf areas, cleaning parking lots, removing litter, and cutting back overgrown vegetation. • Performed routine equipment maintenance, including mower cleaning, deck washing, fittings lubrication, and general upkeep. • Installed Boots and Booms street banners at the Municipal Complex and Slayter Creek Park. Metrics Total Work orders completed Proactive work orders completed SeeClickFix requests addressed 34 Recreation Division Youth Programs • The 4U spring youth T-ball, baseball, and softball leagues concluded on May 8. • The 6U–12U spring youth T-ball, baseball, and softball tournament concluded on May 16. • Soccer registration remains open through July 27. Adult Programs • Summer adult softball programming includes 16 Tuesday teams and 6 Wednesday teams, representing approximately 340 participants. • Free Yoga in the Plaza was offered on April 18, May 9, and June 6. Adults 50+ Programs • Trips were offered to Texas Discovery Gardens on May 7 and the Federal Reserve Bank on June 18. • Prize Bingo programs were held on May 19 and June 16. • A Prize Bunco Party was held on April 10. • Intro to Pickleball programs were offered on May 2 and June 20. • Crafting Corner programs were offered on May 26 and June 24. • Open game time was available daily. All-Ages Programs • Nature Walks were offered on May 2 and June 20. • Free Fishing Day was held on June 6. Special Event Permits • Mission Men of Anna Car Show, May 10, Anna Municipal Complex. • Anna Historical Society Train Day, May 10, Sherley Heritage Park. • Farmers Trust Bank 5K Walk for Awareness, May 30, Slayter Creek Park. Events • Earth Day, April 25, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Anna Community Library and Plaza. • Volunteer Recognition, April 25, 3–5 p.m., Anna Community Library. • Touch-a-Truck, May 16, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Anna Community Library and Plaza. • Juneteenth, June 15, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Anna Community Library and Plaza. Upcoming Event • Boots and Booms is scheduled for June 27 from 5–10 p.m. at Slayter Creek Park. Keep Anna Beautiful • Staff facilitated the Adults 50+ Container Gardening for Small Yards program. • Staff completed the spring litter cleanup initiative. • Staff supported Mission Men of Anna Adopt-a-Spot activities. • The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board spring litter cleanup was completed in support of the Great American Cleanup. • Staff attended the Keep Texas Beautiful Conference. The Summer Activity Guide is available to view online and printed copies available at city facilities. Finley Park • Dean Construction has been selected to be the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the project. • Mobilization will begin in July; construction is expected to take approximately 12 months, but the contractor will provide a schedule once the contract has been executed. Slayter Creek Park Drainage Improvements • The engineer working on drainage plans has defaulted on the contract. • The project may be completed in-house; internal discussions are ongoing. Bryant Park • This project has been placed on hold and will be rescheduled on the Park CIP Plan. • City Council has reprioritized projects, and funding for Bryant Park is needed to achieve their goals. Carol Park • Construction is progressing; the amenity area will be ready for a walkthrough in June and should be open in July. • The trail should be ready for a walkthrough in July and open in August. • There are two developers working simultaneously on this project. Hassie Lawrence Morgan Park • A walkthrough was completed on June 5th, and a punch list has been submitted to the contractor. • Fence needs to be added between the playground and pond; the City is working with the developer to get it added. • The landscape architect has recommended some changes to improve drainage; the City is working with the developer to implement these changes. • The TAS inspection was completed on June 5th; the report is pending. • The park will be open in July. • Staff have begun the preparation of a TPWD grant application; it is a matching grant that would help build the trail. • The grant is due August 1, 2026. c: Jeff Freeth, Director of Community Services Matt Lewis, Parks Superintendent Kevin Bates, City Engineer Management Team MEETING MINUTES ANNA PARKS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING Monday, April 20, 2026 @ 6:00 PM Anna Municipal Complex 120 W 7th Street Anna, TX 75409 The Parks Advisory Board of the City of Anna met at 6:00 PM, on April 20, 2026, at Anna Municipal Complex, located at 120 W. 7th Street, Anna TX 75409, to consider the following items. 1. Call to Oder, Roll Call and Establishment of Quorum Parks Advisory Board Member Susan Jones called the meeting to order at 6:04pm. Quorum was established. Following Parks advisory board members were in attendance Susan Jones, Alastair Hunte, Kennon Weaver, Madeline Madrid, Sheri Sachs and Scott Gentry. Staff present included Acting Director of Community Services Jeff Freeth. 2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance a. Parks Advisory Board Member Scott Gentry led the Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer. 3. Neighbor Comments – No comments. 4. Receive a Report a.
