HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-10-20 Parks Regular Meeting MinutesMINUTES ANNA PARK BOARD REGULAR MEETING October 20,2008 The Park Board of the City of Anna held its regular meeting on Monday,October 20,2008,at 7:00 p.m.at the Community Room of Anna City Hall Administration Building,located at 111 North Powell Parkway (Hwy 5),to consider the following items. 1.Call to order at 7:04 and establishment of quorum.Park Board members present were Kelly Bailey,John Hendricks and Rachel Lyon.Mayor Pelham was present. 2.Fund Raising Projects update. Brick Sales Report -Maurice Schwanke will get more brochures made.Rachel Lyon and Kelly Bailey will obtain a list of Chamber members and call them to sell bricks. The City of Anna purchased an Earl Woods Memorial $1000 brick purchased by the city. Kelly Bailey will contact various groups such as boy scouts to help sell bricks. Maurice will contact Clark the city attorney to determine if we can give a percentage to different groups like boy scouts for selling bricks. The group decided to allow customers to pay for bricks in installments.Maurice would modify the brochure. John Hendricks will contact the Anna Alumni to sell bricks. 3.Stay in Anna Play in Anna Report -Maurice is still looking for the information. 4.Update on status of Slayter Creek Park. Maurice Schwanke reported that the tennis courts and the majority of the park is complete. There are no benches yet.They were not included in the contract with Landscapes Unlimited.The lighting is such that we will know remotely when a bulb goes out and we also have the ability to turn the lights off remotely. 5.Trail Grant report -The trail to Hackberry is finished.There was 4000 additional feet of trail. We need signage forbidding motorized vehicles on trail. 6.Natural Springs Park report -We received $400,000 for the project.Temporarily the access point will be ~hroughthe Brookshire's parking lot and across a bridge to get on the trail. 7.Special Projects. Cultural resource signage Mistorical resource signage Texas Smartscape ~aurice Schwanke will go forward with these projects8.A proposed I Park Ordinance was passed last Tuesday by the City Council.The ordinance contains several conditions that will affect the Parks Board.The Ordinance states that if someone is banned from the park they must appeal to the Parks Board to be readmitted.If someone wants to camp overnight they have to appeal to the Parks Board.We need signage prohibiting alcohol and tobacco. Park Board Minutes Sept 15,2008 were approved.
