ANNA PARK BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
May 19,2008
The Park Board of the City of Anna held its regular meeting on Monday,May 19,2008,at 7:00
p.m.at the Community Room of Anna City Hall Administration Building,located at 111 North
Powell Parkway (Hwy 5),to consider the following items.
1.Call to order at 7:08 and establishment of quorum.Park Board members present were
Chairman John Loyd,Vice Chairman Kelly Bail~y,and Secretary Deb Dennis.
2.Fund Raising Projects update.Deb Dennis-Stay in Anna/Play was held on 4/25.
Checks are being collected and we will have a total for the fund raiser at the next
meeting.Jon Hendricks was not present but he delivered 100 brochures and order
forms to Maurice this week and has promised to bring in the brochure holders tomorrow.
Maurice will call Deb to have them placed when they come in.
3.Consider/Discuss/Act on Restroom/Concession Building Supplies.John Hendricks has
stated to Maurice that concrete donations are still being worked on through his contacts.
Deb Dennis has contacted someone that can get the engraved brick pavers for $15 each
instead of the $18 previous best price we had,and could either donate or give us the
brick at a reduced cost once we have a firm amount.
4.Update on status of Slayter Creek Park.The first two legs of the trail are to go in this
week,as well as the pad for the skate board park.The drainage is done,along with all
the rough grading work.Laser grading is now being done for the ball fields.We have
until December to complete the project so we are shooting for October but we are
currently ahead of schedule.
5.Special Projects.
Historical resource signage-(Jon Hendricks)Absent,no updates.
Cultural resource signage-(Tara Ball)Tara Ball has resigned.This project was
turned over to John Loyd.
Texas Smartscape-(Deb Dennis)Still making contacts with various groups and
organizations for donations.Also looking at trying to get a nursery to donate a
landscape design for us.Maurice recommended looking into the North Central Texas
Council of Governments,please include some citronella plants for pest control.
6.Agenda was missing an item #6.
7.Park Board Minutes.A motion was made to approve the April 21,2008 minutes by Kelly
Bailey and seconded by John Loyd.The motion passed.
8.Citizens comments and/or other presentations.Thank you to those who attended our
meeting this evening.
$1.3 million is the estimate for the first phase of Natural Springs Park.We have until
December 2008 or we will lose land granted to us by Underwood Developments.
Utilize the Eagle Scouts.We have many Eagle Scouts in the area that are looking for
projects.If Maurice can define some projects then we can help them while reducing our
costs.
9.Adjourn at 7:49 pm.The motion was made by Deb Dennis and seconded by Kelly
Bailey.Motion passed.
