ANNA PARK BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
Monday,Sept 27,2010
The Park Board of the City of Anna held a regular meeting on Monday,Sept 27,at 7:00 p.m.in the
Community Room of the Anna City Hall Administration Building,located at 111 North Powell
Parkway (Hwy 5),to consider the following items.
1.Call to order at 7:02 pm and establishment of quorum.Park Board members present were
Kelly Bailey,Jon Hendrix and Rachel Lyon.Maurice Schwanke was also present.
2.Maurice Schwanke said we should know whether we would receive the grants from the
Texas Parks and Wildlife by the end of January (indoor and outdoor).Six applicants will be
approved for outdoor recreation.Thirty applicants statewide have applied.The completion
is stiff for that grants.However our proposal is very solid so we have a good chance.The
indoor grant will only be awarded to one applicant and there are 6 applicants.Maurice is
working on a letter of Retro activity so we can take possession of the land before getting the
grant.This would give us a total of 70 acres in Slayter Creek Park.
3.Fall/Summer Softball-Five teams signed up,half co-ed and half men's.So there were not
enough people to go forward with the program.We will offer it again in the spring with a
shorter season.Maurice recommends that we have two leagues of six teams that play one
night every week.That would make the season shorter.
4.Concession Stand -We must buy some things before we can operate it.Jon knows of an
auction Travis Mitchell Auctions (TMA)where we can look for supplies.The board
suggested that we need to get two door refrigerated drink boxes to hold cans of pop.Some
other things that we are considering include:hot dog roller,pop corn machine,cotton candy
machine,freezer for ice cream.
5.The Anna Glowfest is scheduled for November 6,2010.Jon made the motion to approve
the project.Kelly seconded and the motion passed.
6.Rachel made a motion to accept the minutes of July 19,2010.Kelly Bailey seconded the
motion.The motion carried.
7.Rachel made a motion to adjourn.Jon Hendrix seconded the motion.The motion carried.
