ANNA PARK BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
Monday, January 18, 2011
The Park Board of the City of Anna held a regular meeting on Monday, January 18 2011, at
7:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Anna City Hall Administration Building, located at 111
North Powell Parkway (Hwy 5), to consider the following items.
1. Call to order at 7:20 pm and establishment of quorum. Park Board members present were
Kelly Bailey, Jon Hendrix, Erin Coger and Rachel Lyon. Maurice Schwanke and Becky
Glover were also present.
2. Presentations and Citizens Comments. Introductions of personnel. James Parkman who is
over the city parks introduced Eric Alvarez who is the new Parks Director. Scheduling of
maintenance will be done through James Parkman's office specifically through Eric.
3. Discussion and Action: Natural Springs Park Master Plan Update. Maurice updated the
Parks Board on the progress on Natural Springs and the need for a new adopted Master
Plan.
A gazebo is being built by an Eagle Scout.
There will be additional trails.
Picnic tables, benches and trash cans funded by the CDC are currently
being installed.
There are plans for a water fountain near the gazebo.
There are plans to make flare outs at bends and intersections in the trails
to insure proper access for maintenance vehicles.
Jon Hendrix made a motion to approve the New Master Plan for Natural Springs Park. Erin
Coger seconded the motion.
4. Discussion and Action: Soccer League — There is an unauthorized Community soccer
league from Sherman using our fields on Saturdays, causing lots of wear and tear. We need
to contact them and get them to sign a contract to take care of the maintenance. We are
also considering moving the goals to save the grass.
We also need more soccer fields to save wear and tear on the grass in the one field. Jon
Hendrix suggested we need a contract to be used for leagues rather than just a policy.
We discussed the possibility of preparing the fields in front of Joe K. Bryant Elementary. The
fields will need soil, seed, weed killer, water and porta potties.
5. Park Board Minutes — Oct 18, 2010. Erin Coger made a motion to accept the minutes of Oct
18, 2010. Rachel Lyon made a motion to second. The motion carried.
6. Adjourn —Rachel Lyon made a motion to adjourn. Kelly Baile seconded. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 7:47pm.
