HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-11-23 Parks Special Meeting PacketAGENDA VGUWH°"� ANNA PARK BOARD SPECIAL MEETING November 23, 2015 The Park Board of the City of Anna will hold a special meeting on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Room of Anna City Hall Administration Building, located at I I I North Powell Parkway (Hwy 5), to consider the following items. 1. Call to order and establishment of quorum. 2. Consider/Discuss/Action concerning the approval of a resolution approving a special event application submitted by Sara Cox, representative for the Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce regarding the request to sponsor a Christmas Parade" event to be held on Saturday, December 12a, 2015. Preparation will start at approximately 9:00 a.m. with the actual parade starting at 12:00 noon. A street block request has been submitted and approved to close off Hwy 5 and Fourth Street (TX Dot approval) and the approval from the Police Department and Planning & Development. 3. Call to order and establishment of quorum. Meeting called to order at 7:09 p.m. and establishment of quorum. Members present were Jon Hendricks, Rene Martinez, Stan Carver, Ginny Finan and Erin Cogar. Staff present was Maurice Schwanke. 2. Consider/Discuss/Action regarding the approval of a resolution approving a special event application submitted by Greta Adams and Debbie Dumas, representatives for the Anna ISD Education Foundation concerning the request to sponsor a "Disc Golf Tournament". The location for the event would be held at the Disc Golf Course located at Slayter Creek Park and use of the Gazebo. The date for the event is October 3rd, 2015 and will start at 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A letter from the school regarding the use of school property for parking and all other necessary documents will be provided before the date of the event. Agenda item withdrawn by the applicant. No action taken. 3. Consider/Discuss/Action regarding the approval of a resolution approving a special event application submitted by Karen Ahrens, representing the "Anna Athletic Booster Club" concerning the request to have a "Fundraiser 5K and Family 1K fun walk on Saturday, October 17t", 2015from (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) starting and ending at Natural Springs Park. A meeting has been held by the City with representation from Karen Ahrens, the Police and Planning concerning this event. The goal of this event is to raise money for Student Athlete Scholarships and Sports Equipment. Karen Ahrens, representative for the Anna Athletic Booster Club gave a presentation regarding the special event. A motion was made by Erin Cogar, seconded by Stan Carver to recommend approval of the special event request. The motion carried. 4. Park Updates Mr. Schwanke gave a brief update regarding the parks. No action taken. 5. Approve Park Board Minutes Park Board Minutes 09-21-15 doc Page 1 of 2 Posted 09-21-15 • February 17, 2015 - May 18, 2015 - June 15, 2015 - August 17, 2015 A motion was made by Erin Cogar, seconded by Stan Carver to approve the above Minutes of the Park Board. The motion carried. 6. Adjourn A motion was made by Stan Carver, seconded by Rene Martinez to adjourn meeting. Motion carried.
