ANNA PARK BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
Monday,April 20,2009
The Park Board of the City of Anna held its regular meeting on Monday,April 20,at 7:00 p.m.in the
Community Room of the Anna City Hall Administration Building,located at 111 North Powell Parkway
(Hwy 5),to consider the following items.
1.Called to order at 7:06 p.m.and establishment of quorum.Park Board members present were Kelly
Bailey,Erin Cogar,Jon Hendrix and Rachel Lyon.Also present were Maurice Schwanke and Mayor
Pelham.
2.Discussion of Ethics requirements for members of Board and Commissions.Mayor Pelham
reminded the board members of actions that were unacceptable and penalties for those actions.
3.Citizen's comments and lor other presentations.Jon Hendrix presented pictures of the bathrooms at
the ball field where teams were currently playing.He called for something to be done about the
appearance.Maurice will obtain more information about trash pick-up.
4.Discussion/action on overall park system.Maurice Schwanke presented a new map of Anna that
included the additions of park space that were agreed upon in the previous meeting.Citizens have
asked for equestrian trails that had been left out but could be easily included.Mayor Pelham
suggested we learn more about making a walkway under existing power lines.Maurice pointed out
that a town our size usually has a golf course.Board members located a piece of property centrally
located that would serve as a golf course.Mayor Pelham suggested we preserve an area of grassland
in midtown.Maurice Schwanke pointed out that the trend is for cities to water their green areas with
grey water.This could make a difference in where certain amenities should be located.
5.Discussion on the progress of Natural Springs.The trail is becoming very steep and must be worked
on.The Anna CVC had purchased land and some land had been donated to make a larger entrance.
The owner of the pond is willing to give the pond to the city in exchange for land to build a cafe with
a windmill overlooking the pond.He also wants the pond to be filled with water at all times.This
may require dredging the pond.
6.Park Board Minutes for March 9,2009.Jon Hendrix made a motion to accept and Erin Cogar
seconded it.Motion passed.
7.Adjourn at 8:01pm.The motion was made by Erin Cogar and seconded by Rachel Lyon.Motion
passed.
