HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 2011-08-03 Naming the Maximum Tax Rate for the 2011 Tax YearCITY OF ANNA, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 2011-08-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS NAMING THE MAXIMUM TAX RATE THE COUNCIL MAY ADOPT FOR THE 2011 TAX YEAR WHEREAS, The Constitution of the State of Texas (the "State") sets out the general reqUirements for truth-in-taxation provisions requiring political subdivisions of the State inform citizens in their jurisdiction of changes in the property tax rate WHEREAS, The City of Anna, Texas (the "City") is a political subdivision of the State and is therefore subject laws of the State WHEREAS, Section 7.19 of the City Home Rule Charter (the "Charter") states the City has power to levy, assess, and collect taxes of every character and type for any municipal purpose not prohibited by state or federal law WHEREAS, The City Council (the "Council") wishes to establish a maximum tax rate it may adopt WHEREAS, The Council wishes not to exceed the effective tax rate NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS THAT: Section 1. Recitals Incorporated The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein for all purposes as if set forth in full. Section 2. Proposal of maximum tax rate adopted by the City The Council hereby proposes that the maximum tax rate to be adopted by the City shall not exceed the effective rate of $0.669035 cents per $100 valuation.
