ORDINANCE NO. 97-07
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS,
DECLARING THAT RONALD FERGUSON IS AN UNOPPOSED CANDIDATE FOR
MAYOR, THAT BOB ESTEP IS AN UNOPPOSED CANDIDATE FOR PLACE ONE
ON THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THAT JOE MURHPY IS AN UNOPPOSED
CANDIDATE FOR PLACE FIVE ON THE CITY COUNCIL; DECLARING EACH
CANDIDATE ELECTED TO OFFICE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 25, 1997, the City Council adopted
Ordinance No. 97-05 calling a regular municipal election on
May 3, 1997 to fill the office of Mayor. City Council member
place one, and City Council member place five, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of -Section 2.052 of the
Election Code of the State of Texas, the City Secretary has
certified to the City Council that Ronald Ferguson is an
unopposed candidate for Mayor, that Bob Estep is an unopposed
candidate for place one, and that Joe Murphy is an unopposed
candidate for place five, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 2.053 of the
• Election Code of the State of Texas the City Council is
authorized to declare each unopposed candidate elected to
office; Now, Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That under the provisions of Section 2.052 of the
Election Code of the State of Texas the City Secretary has
certified to the City Council that Ronald Ferguson is an
unopposed candidate for Mayor, that Bob Eatep is an unopposed
candidate for place one, and that Joe Murphy is an unopposed
candidate for place five on the City Council.
SECTION 2. That Ronald Ferguson is hereby declared to be
elected to the office of Mayor, that Bob Estep is hereby
declared to be elected to place one of the City Council, and
that Joe Murphy is hereby declared to be elected to place
five on the City Council. That upon taking proper oath each
shall hold their respective office as the law in such case
provides.
SECTION 3. That a copy of this Ordinance shall be posted on
election day at each polling place that would have been used
in the Election.
SECTION 4. That a certificate of election shall be issued to
each candidate in the same manner as provided for a candidate
elected at the election.

SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately
from and after its adoption, as the law in such case
provides.
DULY ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas,
on the 25TH day of MARCH , 1997.
