HomeMy WebLinkAboutPBmin2023-02-27Minutes TnF CITY Or Anna Parks Advisory Meeting Anna Monday, February 27th, 6:00 pm Anna City Hall, 120 W. 7" Street MINUTES ANNA PARKS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING Monday, February 27 @ 6:00 PM Municipal Complex, Executive Conference Room 120 W. 7th Street, Anna, TX 75409 The Parks Advisory Board of the City of Anna met at 6:00 PM, on February 27th, 2023, at the Municipal Complex, Executive Conference Room, located at 120 W. 71h Street, to consider the following items: 1. Call to Order, Roll Call and Establishment of Quorum Parks Advisory Board Member Elden Baker called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm. Parks Advisory Board Member Mackenzie Jenks, Eirik Hansen and Jeff Reece were absent. Staff present included Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Jeff Freeth, Neighborhood Services Director Marc Marchand, Park Planning and Development manager Dalan Walker, and City Council Members Stan Carver, Kevin Toten, Pete Cain and Danny Ussery. I . 2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance Parks Advisory Board Member Elden Baker led the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Reports a. Parks Superintendent Matt Lewis reported on Parks Maintenance Slayter Creek Park: getting the disc golf course ready, new bridge to Middle School, and two days of work repairing drainage issues that back up to the park. He also reported on repairs at natural springs park, Bryant Park getting irrigation, and damage and inspections of restrooms. b. Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Jeff Freeth reported on spring mailers distribution and programming from March 61h to May 26th; Easter Extravanganza and Teen Glow Hunt the first week of April, Senior Programs; Talks and talents and monthly trips. He also discussed baseball, softball and t- ball practices starting, t-ball playing in Melissa and Anna, opening day on March 18th, and the season ending on May 20th. Special events that were discussed were the Touch -a -Truck event on May 201h from 10 am to 1 pm including Fire, Police and Public Works Department; Train day at Sherley Park from 10am- 12pm and possibly being extended to 1pm. 4. Project Updates a. Park Planning and Development manager Dalan Walker provided the following updates: Fitness Court is complete but not yet open, Splash Pad -Soil testing and hopefully opening on Memorial Day, Johnson ballfield lights are waiting for a meter, and final drawings for splash pad bathrooms will be completed and then bid. 5. Individual Consideration a. Discuss, Consider and Acton Parks Advisory Board meeting minutes from December 19, 2022, and January 23, 2023. Parks Advisory Board Member Elden Baker seconded. Motion carried. bI Discuss the Community Recreation Task Force roles and responsibilities (Project Advocate). Project Advocate representatives discussed the task force consisting ofFhe seven parks board members and tours of recreation centers on March 20t".
