HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-05-08 DIAC Regular Meeting MinutesTHE CITY OF Anna MINUTES DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING Anna Municipal Complex, 120 W. 7th Street, Anna, Texas 75409 Monday, May 8, 2023 @ 6:30 PM 1. Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of Quorum Meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. Members present: Yoshanda Sims, Theresa King- Bell, Alfredo Fernandez, and Dallen Morgan. Quorum established. 2. Invocation led by Dallen Morgan and Pledge of Allegiance led by Danny Ussery. 3. Neighbor's Input. At this time, any person may address the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission regarding an item on this meeting agenda that is not scheduled for public hearing. Also, at this time any person may address the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission regarding an item that is not on this meeting agenda. Each person will be allowed up to 3 minutes to speak. No discussion or action may be taken at this meeting on items not listed on this agenda, other than to make statements of speck information in response to a citizen's inquiry or to recite existing policy in response to the inquiry. No neighbors comments. 4. Reports. 5. Items For Individual Consideration. a. Consider/AcUDiscuss Youth in Government Day. — We are still trying to make contact with someone at the school who can help facilitate this. Budget for $1000- $1200 for food and transportation. Possible intems for those who are interested. b. Consider/Act/Discuss International Day/Multicultural Day event. — Using multicultural title, requested $1 OK in budget for this event, survey could go out in July/early August in its own Facebook post and hopefully the top of the newsletter, checking on linked in page and website, possibly paper copy in water bill C. Consider/Act/Discuss updating the mission statement of the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission. Move to approve by Theresa, 2nd- Yoshanda, 4-0, passes. d. Consider/Act/Discuss cultural and community event funding. Requested to put 3K in the budget for neighbors who want to do something to celebrate different holidays or cultures. Brainstorm what cultural/community event language to look like- what is the scope. e. Consider/Act/Discuss approval of the minutes from the November 1, 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission Meeting.- approved by all f. Consider/Act/Discuss approval of the minutes from the January 23, 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission Meeting.- approved by all Persons with a disability who want to attend this meeting who may need assistance should contact the Assistant City Managers office at 972-924-3325 two working days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. g. Consider/Act/Discuss approval of the minutes from the February 27, 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission Meeting. -approved by all 6. Adjourn.
