HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 347-2007 Altering Prima Facie Speed Limits for Ferguson Pkwy and CR 371 School ZonesCITY OF ANNA, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 347-2007 AN ORDINANCE ALTERING THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ESTABLISHED FOR VEHICLES UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TRANSPORTATION CODE, SECTION 54.5.356 UPON FERGUSON PARKWAY (CR 367) AND CR 371 OR PARTS THEREOF, WITHIN THE INCORPORATED LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ANNA, AS SET OUT IN THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00 FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. Whereas, the addition of a new elementary school on Ferguson Parkway (CR 367) within the Corporate Limits of the City of Anna, Texas shall increase the pedestrian and vehicle traffic on and about the roadway; and Whereas, the addition of an elementary school on CR 371 within the Corporate Limits of the City of Anne, Texas shall increase the pedestrian and vehicle traffic on and about the roadway; and Whereas, the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas hereby finds it necessary and proper and in the best interests of the citizens of Anna to establish a new speed zone along Ferguson Parkway (CR 367) and a speed zone on CR 371. Now, therefore, be It ordained by the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas that the City hereby designates school speed zones in the following locations: SECTION 1: a. Ferguson Parkway (CR 367). A maximum speed of 25 miles per hour is established for the panache beginning 30 minutes before the start of school and ending 15 minutes after the start of school; starting again 15 minutes before the end of school and ending 30 minutes after school ends for the day; and b. CR 371. A maximum speed of 25 miles per hour is established for Me periods beginning 30 minutes before the start of school and ending 15 minutes after the start of school; starting again 15 minutes before the end of school and ending 30 minutes after school ends for the day. C. Both of these school speed zones shall be effective in the areas between the school zone signage and in effect on days when school is in session. O,d. Na. 347-2p7 Arlaiog Fauna Ftl Syn Lu in Scbm lines. 1 09-]8117 SECTION 3: Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be tined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). SECTION 4: If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
