WHEREAS, the City of Anna, Texas ("the City") has previously adopted the City of
Anna Personnel Policy Manual ("the Manual"), which describes guidelines and
policies for the City's personnel; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anna, Texas City Council ("City Council") has determined
that the Manual is in need of updating with respect to the Standard Work Period.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANNA, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. Recitals Incorporated.
The above -referenced recitals are incorporated herein as if set forth in full for all
purposes.
Section 2. Amendment to Personnel Policy Manual.
Section 3 of the Manual is hereby amended by adding a new subsection 3.04 as follows:
6.01: Work Period
(a) Except as otherwise set forth expressly herein, the official work period for
City of Anna nonpolice employees is a seven-day period beginning at 12:01
a.m. on Monday and ending at 12:00 Midnight on the following Sunday. (Res
2008-01-03, passed 1122108). Normal working hours are Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour off for lunch, for a total of forty
hours per work week. Morning and afternoon breaks of fifteen minutes each
are available to each employee if duties permit, but this time does not
accumulate if not taken. Part-time regular employees work the hours assigned.
The official work period for non-exempt police officers is a 28-day period with
the first pay period paid for standard non -overtime hours and with overtime and
compensating time figured after 171 hours actually worked during the entire
28-day pay period and paid at the end of the second pay period. (Ord 215-
2005, passed 6128105).
(b) In addition, the department head may set other hours of work and authorize.
alternative work locations (i.e. work from home) for field -employees,

individuals, or groups of employees, if necessary or desirable and if approved
by the City Manager.
(c) All employees are expected to report punctually for duty at the beginning of
their assigned workday and work the full workday established. An employee
who is expected to be late to work or needs to leave before the end of the
workday should notify the department head as early as possible.
Section 3. Savings, Severabillity and Repealing Clauses.
All ordinances of the City in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are
repealed to the extent of that conflict. If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase of this ordinance, or its application to a particular set of persons
or circumstances, is declared invalid or adjudged unconstitutional by a court of
competent jurisdiction, it does not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
as the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are severable. The City
Council, declares that it would have passed each and every part of this ordinance
notwithstanding the omission of any part that is declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
This ordinance shall become effective after its passage and upon the posting and/or
publication, if required by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas, on this the 8th day of
