HomeMy WebLinkAboutPZmin2006-02-21 (Workshop)MINUTES PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION WORKSHOP February 21, 2006 The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Anna held a workshop on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at 7:00 p. m., at the Community Room of the Texas Star Bank, located at 402 W. White Street (FM 455), Anna, Texas, to consider the following items. This meeting was conducted jointly by the Planning and Zoning Commissions of the cities of Anna and Van Alstyne. 1. Call to order Chairman John Rattan called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present included Jon Hendricks, Joseph Boda, Keith Green, Molly Young, William Ballantyne and Nancy Pennington. Members present from Van Alstyne Planning and Zoning included Chairman Jim Atchison, members Wilson Taylor and Jerry Moody. 2. Presentation regarding the Mantua project (project manager Don Paschal, at al.). Don Paschal, Project Manager, 904 Parkwood Court, McKinney, Texas and Bill Benton, 804 W. Stephens, Van Alstyne, Texas presented a power point presentation regarding the Mantua project. Mr. Paschal presented to the Planning and Zoning Committees of Anna and Van Alstyne, meeting in joint session, an overview of the Mantua submission for zoning and annexation. Mr. Paschal informed members that the document will be filed with the respective cities soon and it is their desire to have an identical ordinance passed by both cities. Mr. Paschal noted that the purpose of the meeting was to inform the committee members how the document was constructed and its contents. The committees were given a suggested timeline for review and an approval schematic of how the project would be submitted and approved. The presentation also showed the committee several examples of various home products that require flexibility in zoning to allow for a full range of dwelling products to be constructed. The project covers more than 2800 acres and will be built out over the next 20 PZC Workshop Minutes 02-21-08.doc Page 1 of 2 02-21-06 to 30 years and this flexibility will allow Mantua to respond to the changing market and home designs. The Mantua project will be a strategic part of communities and quality, sustainable neighborhoods will set a desirable standard for both communities. Mr. Paschal recommended that the members take a bus tour of the locations showed in the power point presentation. 3. Citizen comments and other presentation. Members of the Planning and Zoning Committee from both cities and others in attendance asked questions during the presentation. 4. Adjourn Motion to adjourn at 8:05 p.m. by Joseph Boda, seconded by Keith Green. Motion to adjourn at 8:05 p.m. (Van Alstyne P&Z) by Wilson Taylor, seconded by Mike Copeland. The vote was unanimous.
