PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETINGIWORKSHOP
July 21, 2007
The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Anna held a special meeting on
Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 8:00 a.m., at the Community Room of Anna City Hall
Administration, located at 111 North Powell Parkway (Hwy 5), to consider the following
items.
Call to order and establishment of quorum.
Chairman Jon Hendricks called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. Members present
were Jon Hendricks, Jeff Caponera, Nancy Pennington, J.W. Finley, Mike Green
and Darren Driskell.
Commissioner William Ballantyne was absent.
2. Citizen comments and other presentations.
There were no citizen comments or other presentations.
3. Public Hearing
To consider public comment on variance request by Dr. Joe Wardell,
Superintendent of Anna ISD , representing Anna ISD, from provisions of Section 2i
of the City of Anna Screening Regulations (Ordinance # 2001-08), that Rattan
Elementary School be exempt from the requirement of installing parapet wall or
screening devices to cover mechanical units on the roolline of the school.
Public Hearing was opened at 8:08 a.m.
Dr. Joe Wardell, Superintendent of Anna ISD, representing Anna ISD, gave brief
explanation regarding the variance request for the Rattan Elementary School.
After a brief discussion, public hearing closed at 8:24 a.m.
4. Action
Dr. Joe Wardell, representing Anna ISD, gave brief reviewed regarding variance
request and answered questions from the Commission.

After brief discussion, motion was made by Darren Driskell to grant variance
request. Mr. Green seconded the motion
which passed by the following vote:
6 aye 0 nay 0 abstained
The meeting recessed at 9:56 a.m. for a Board of Adjustment meeting scheduled at
10:00 a.m. It was agreed unanimously to reconvene after the Board of Adjustment
concluded their meeting.

a. Construction specifications for residential fencing
b. Construction specifications for screening between residential and non-
residential uses
c. Type(s) of screening required along roadway perimeters
The Commission discussed and reviewed ordinances of other cities and those now
in place of the City of Anna. After a lengthily discussion, it was agreed to meet
again before finalizing revisions to the Zoning Ordinance concerning fencing
requirements.
6. Adjourn
There being no further business, a motion was made by Mr. Driskell, seconded by
Mr. Caponera, to adjourn meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
