CITY OF ANNA AGENDA NOTICE -CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
March 27, 2010 8:30 a.m. -Anna City Hall Administration Building
The City Council of the City of Anna met in Special Session at 8:30 a.m., March 27,
2010, at the Anna City Hall Administration Building, located at 111 North Powell Parkway
(Hwy 5), to consider the following items.
1. Call to Order.
Mayor Darren R. Driskell called the meeting to order at 8:30 am. Mayor Darren
Driskell and Council Members Keith Green, John Geren, Marc Hendricks and
Becky Glover were present.
Council Member Green made the motion to enter closed session at 8:31 am.
Council Member Hendricks seconded the motion. Motion passes.
AYE 5 NAY 0 ABSTAIN o
2. CLOSED SESSION (EXCEPTIONS): Under Tex. Gov't Code Chapter
551, the City Council may enter into closed session to discuss any
items listed or referenced on this agenda under the following
exceptions:
Consult with legal counsel regarding pending or contemplated litigation
and/or on matters in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental
body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the
State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with Chapter 551 of the Government
Code (Tex. Gov't Code §551.071) including but not limited to:
City of Anna, City of Weston boundary issues
The council further reserves the right to enter into executive session at any
time throughout any duly noticed meeting under any applicable exception
to the Open Meetings Act
Mayor Driskell made the motion to return to open session at 8:34 am. Council
Member Hendricks seconded the motion. Motion passes.

3. Consider/Discuss/Action regarding ordinance declaring all areas receiving
longstanding treatment as part of the City as being part of the City.
City Attorney, Clark McCoy introduced the item to the Council, which discussed
and considered the ordinance. Mr. McCoy stated that the City's records indicated
that the areas that have received longstanding treatment as shown on the map
attached to the proposed ordinance had been part of the City for more than 20
years based on City annexations of those areas occurring more than 20 years

ago. Mr. McCoy asked Police Chief Jenks if the annexed areas on the map
attached to the proposed ordinance have been provided police protection by the
City through its Police Department or through previous agreements under which
the City contracted with the Sheriff's department to provide police protection for
the last 20 years. Chief Jenks answered yes. Mr. McCoy further stated that as of
this morning, there have been no lawsuits or other proceedings challenging the
areas being part of the City and that the City could adopt the proposed ordinance
under Section 41.003 of the Local Government Code to declare the areas as
being part of the City. Council Member Glover made the motion to approve.
Council Member Green seconded the motion. Motion passes.

4. Adjourn.
Council Member Glover made the motion to adjourn at 8:36 am. Council Member
Hendricks seconded the motion. Motion passes.
