HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-01-29 Parks Meeting MinutesMeeting MINUTES ANNA PARKS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING Monday, January 29,2024 @ 6:00 PM Municipal Complex, Council Chambers 120 W. 7th Street, Anna, TX 75409 The Parks Advisory Board of the City of Anna met at 6:04 PM, on January 29t", 2024, at the Anna Municipal Complex, Council Chambers, located at 120 W. 7th Street, to consider the following items: 1. Call to Order, Roll Call and Establishment of Quorum Parks Advisory Board Member Mackenzie Jenks called the meeting to order at 6:04pm. Quorum was established. Following Parks advisory board members were in attendance Susan Jones, Jeff Reece, and Andy Michirina., Eirik Hansen and Chad Fisher was not in attendance. Staff present included Director of Neighborhood Services Marc Marchand, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Jeff Freeth, Park Planning and Development manager Dalan Walker, Assistant City Manager Greg Peters and City Council Members Elden Baker, Stan Carver and Pete Cain. 2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Parks Advisory Board Member Jeff Reece led the Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer. 3. Neighbor Comments — No neighbor comments. 4. Receive a Report Received a memo with the update on parks maintenance and recreation programs and events. 5. Project Update. Receive a memo with the park CIP Project — Development manager Dalan updated Johnson Park, and survey done for Natural Spring Park. More details will be attached to the CIP. 6. Items for Individual Consideration a) Discuss future Parks CIP project options at Sherley Heritage Park to include in recommendations to the City Council for the 2024-2025 Capital Improvement Plan budget based upon the adopted master plan for the park. Park Advisory Board Member Jeff Reece made a recommendation to get the list of items, including ADA compliance items, that need to be improved from the Dalan, Parks Planning Manger Dalan. The board will then come back with the items for CIP recommendation. This will be presented to the council along with other CIP projects. The project will be funded in the next year's budget. b) Discuss, Consider, Action on a park naming recommendation. MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Jeff Reece made a motion to name the park Hassie Morgan Park. Seconded by Mackenzie Jenks. Motion carried. c) Discuss, Consider, Action on Parks Advisory Board meeting minutes on December 11, 2023. MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Jeff Reece made a motion to approve the minutes. Seconded by Andy Michirina. Motion carried. d) Discuss, Consider, Action on February meeting date. MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Mackenzie Jenks made a motion to move the February meeting from February 26'h, 2024, to February 291h, 2024. Seconded by Jeff Recce. Motion carried. e) Discuss, Consider, Action on future agenda items. No future agenda items. 7. Adjourn. Parks Advisory Board Chair Mackenzie Jenks adjourned the meeting at 7:20pm.
