(488 acres mowed) o Spot sprayed all landscape beds at parks, city hall and park entrance signs. Applied post emergent to multipurpose fields, & soccer fields at Slayter Creek Park. o Prepped all ballfields for baseball/softball practices and games daily. o Repaired multiple irrigation diaphragms, valves, & valve boxes at Slayter Creek Park, Baldwin Park, & City Hall. o Met with contractors & completed electrical repairs to the water features at Natural Springs Park. The repairs to the fountains are significant and we are receiving quotes to replace existing fountains. o Tested and maintained the splash pad throughout each day and made daily logs at 9am, 1pm, & 4pm. o Inspected and restocked 5 sets of restrooms daily. o Cleaned and inspected 5.5 miles of walking trails each week. o Prepared Slayter Creek Park for and assisted recreation staff with the July 4th Boots and Boom event. o Repaired a broken net at the pickleball courts. The Recreation Division completed the following: • Hosted the following adults 50+ programs: o Nature walk at Natural Springs Park on June 22. o Patriotic flower jars at the Municipal Complex on June 26. o Patriotic Luncheon on July 2 at Grace Place. o Foodie Troop on July 16. o Book club at Sherley Heritage Park on July 10. o Trip to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on July 11. • Completed the following for youth programs: o Hosted “Summer Rec-ess Pop-up Recreation” on June 25, and July 2, 9. o Continued planning and registration for 4U, 6U, 8U and 10U Youth Soccer. Currently 4U, 6U and 8U are full and waitlisting 10U still has openings. We are currently looking for coaches for all age divisions. • Hosted the following adult programs: o Adult Coed Softball o Yoga (free) at Slayter Creek Park on June 22. • Hosted the following contract classes: o Parent and Me Soccer o AYSES Soccer Club o Tennis o Baseball, Multisport, Soccer and Kids Tennis Camp o Basketball o Pickleball classes and paddle battle • Hosted the interdepartmental logistics meeting on June 27 to discuss upcoming events. • Hosted Boots and Booms event on Saturday, June 29 from 5pm to 10pm. The event featured a kid’s zone, food vendors, a concert by Tenille Arts and Independence Day celebration fireworks show. • Kicked-off Summer Parks Bingo. Skatepark at Slayter Creek Park • TAS inspection was performed, and no deficiencies were identified. Anna Park Projects (Slayter Pickle Ball/Basketball Courts, Slayter Parking Expansion, Yank Improvements, Natural Springs Park Parking Lot) • Break in storm sewer line under pickleball plaza has been repaired. • Contractor is attempting to establish grass south of the pickleball courts, but the heat is making it difficult. • The sports court lights at Slayter have been fixed; faulty photo sensors were replaced. Pecan Grove Trail • The project is currently out for bid. • A pre-bid meeting will be held on July 24th. • Bids close August 9th; Council award of construction agreement on August 27th; • Construction will begin in September. Anna Crossing Park • Public input was received at the last Parks Advisory Board meeting. • Staff organized the feedback from neighbors and discussed revisions to the park; a summary of changes will be presented to the July Board meeting. Bryant Park • Consultant is further developing concept plans based on input from staff. Playground at Natural Springs Park • Playground equipment has been ordered. • Construction will begin by October. Wayfinding Project • As part of a citywide wayfinding sign project, park rules signs and new park identification signs are being designed. • Waiting for a proposal from MERJE to develop plans for one-off signs in parks and incorporate into the regulation and park identification sign project. John Flavel Greer Park • A pre-construction meeting will be held on July 16th; the developer will begin construction this month. • This park was designed and will be built at the expense of the developer of The Woods at Lindsey Place. c: Jeff Freeth, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Matt Lewis, Parks Superintendent Marc Marchand, Director of Neighborhood Services Greg Peters, Assistant City Manager Taylor Lough, Assistant City Manager Ryan Henderson, City Manager Management Team Meeting MINUTES ANNA PARKS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING Monday, June 17th, 2024 @ 6:00 PM Harlow Elementary School 2412 Leonard Ave Anna, TX 75409 The Parks Advisory Board of the City of Anna met at 6:04 PM, on June 17th, 2024, at Harlow Elementary School, located at 2412 Leanord Ave, Anna TX 75409, to consider the following items. 1. Call to Order, Roll Call and Establishment of Quorum Parks Advisory Board Member Susan Jones called the meeting to order at 6:04pm. Quorum was established. Following Parks advisory board members were in attendance Susan Jones, Jeff Reece, Chad Fisher, Rachel Sinagra, Kennon Weaver, Choya Morrison and Alastair Hunte. Staff present included Director of Neighborhood Services Marc Marchand, Park Planning and Development manager Dalan Walker, Assistant City Manager Greg Peters and City Council Member Stan Carver were present. 2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Parks Advisory Board Member Chad Fisher led the Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer. 3. Neighbor Comments – No neighbor comment 4. Receive a Report a. Concept design of Anna Crossing Park was presented by Chris Scott with Huitt-Zollars group. Chris presented a very thought-out concept to the community. Received some very good feedback from the neighbors that were present at the meeting. There were also some concerns that were presented, but the city staff and the development team were able to address some of the concerns. Overall, the concept presented was received well. b. Councilman Stan Carver introduced the new Parks Advisory Board members and gave a short orientation. c. Received a report on parks maintenance and recreation programs and events. 5. Project Update. a. Received report on Park CIP project update. 6. Items for Individual Consideration a. Discuss, Consider, Action on Parks Advisory Board meeting minutes on May 28th, 2024 MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Chad Fisher made a motion to approve the minutes Seconded by Jeff Reece. Motion Carried. b. Discuss, Consider, Action on erosion at Natural Springs Park MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Chad Fisher made a motion to table the item. Seconded by Jeff Reece. Motion Carried. c. Discuss, Consider, Action on citizens' concerns at Natural Springs Park MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Chad Fisher made a motion to not to take any action on the item. The concern citizens are currently being addressed by the city staff. Seconded by Alastair Hunte. Motion Carried. d. Discuss, Consider, Action on handicap access to small dog area. MOTION: Park Advisory Board Member Chad Fisher made a motion to not to take any action on the item. The item has been fixed by the city staff. Seconded by Alastair Hunte. Motion Carried. 7.
