Welcome to the City Council meeting. If you wish to speak on an Open Session agenda item, please fill out the Opinion/Speaker Registration Form and turn it in to the City Secretary before the meeting starts. 1. Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of Quorum. 2. Neighbor Comments. At this time, any person may address the City Council regarding an item on this meeting Agenda that is not scheduled for public hearing. Also, at this time, any person may address the City Council regarding an item that is not on this meeting Agenda. Each person will be allowed up to three (3) minutes to speak. No discussion or action may be taken at this meeting on items not listed on this Agenda, other than to make statements of specific information in response to a citizen’s inquiry or to recite existing policy in response to the inquiry. 3. Novak, Executive Vice President Date: October 28, 2024 Re: City Council Retreat Preparation My colleague Myra Ray-Howett and I look forward to being with you on November 4, 2024. The purpose of this memo is to share the agenda retreat and allow some time for you to reflect on conversations we intend to engage in during our time together. Logistics Location: Anna Fire Department 305 Powell Parkway When: Monday, November 4, 2024 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Preparation Please take a few minutes to review the information that follows to allow you to prepare for the retreat. Vision and Success During the 2022 Retreat the City Council identified Seven Success Statements that define what must go well in order for The City of Anna (Anna) to be successful in the future. Earlier in 2024 the Council gathered and identified a Vision Statement. We will review the Vision and Success Statements and ensure alignment with this governing body. Vision Statement Anna is a vibrant, economically thriving community with a diversity of quality transportation options, housing inventory, and destination attractions. Our world-class facilities, services, and infrastructure attracts residents, businesses, and visitors and drives our financial stability and sustainability. Council priorities move the City towards the vision and connect with the aspirations you have articulated with your Success Statements. City of Anna, Texas Page 4 2024 City Council Retreat Preparation Trusted Advisors Transforming Communities Agenda Setting the Stage The facilitator will review the agenda and meeting norms and ask each attendee to introduce themselves and share their expectations for the retreat. Celebrating Success We will discuss things the City accomplished in the past 12 to 24 months that made you PROUD of the City. Where did the City SHINE? Revisiting the Vision The Council will briefly revisit the Vision Statement in the context of the Success Statements and reaffirm their commitment to this statement as their Vision for the City. Anna is a vibrant, economically thriving community with a diversity of quality transportation options, housing inventory, and destination attractions. Our world-class facilities, services, and infrastructure attracts residents, businesses, and visitors and drives our financial stability and sustainability. Connecting the Success Statements We will review the Success Statements in the context of the Vision and make adjustments that are appropriate to align with this City Council’s aspirations for the community. Council Priorities Each member of the Council will be asked to share with their colleagues the most important policies or initiatives they wish to accomplish while serving the City of Anna. We will identify where there is a shared interest and work with the City’s Management Team to incorporate them into Departmental Work Plans. Next Steps The City Manager will share with the Council what can be expected—and when—while working with the staff to develop work plans that align with outcomes. Closing/Adjourn As the day comes to a close, each participant will be asked to share a parting thought on how they feel about the work done during the retreat.
