Council Priorities
An important outcome for this retreat is for each member of the governing body to share their individual
priorities and work together to establish what will become Council priorities. Council priorities move the
City towards the vision and connect with the aspirations you have articulated with your Success
Statements.
What are your top three priorities for the next two years?
1. ______________________________________________________________________________________

3. ______________________________________________________________________________________

• Be:
o BOLD
o Positive and realistic
o Candid and honest

Agenda
Setting the Stage
The facilitator will review the agenda and meeting norms and ask each attendee to introduce themselves
and share their expectations for the retreat.
Celebrating Success
We will discuss things the City accomplished in the past 12 to 24 months that made you PROUD of the
City. Where did the City SHINE?
Revisiting the Vision
The Council will briefly revisit the Vision Statement in the context of the Success Statements and reaffirm
their commitment to this statement as their Vision for the City.
Anna is a vibrant, economically thriving community with a diversity of quality transportation options,
housing inventory, and destination attractions. Our world-class facilities, services, and infrastructure attracts
residents, businesses, and visitors and drives our financial stability and sustainability.
Connecting the Success Statements
We will review the Success Statements in the context of the Vision and make adjustments that are
appropriate to align with this City Council’s aspirations for the community.
Council Priorities
Each member of the Council will be asked to share with their colleagues the most important policies or
initiatives they wish to accomplish while serving the City of Anna. We will identify where there is a
shared interest and work with the City’s Management Team to incorporate them into Departmental
Work Plans.
Next Steps
The City Manager will share with the Council what can be expected—and when—while working with the
staff to develop work plans that align with outcomes.
Closing/Adjourn
As the day comes to a close, each participant will be asked to share a parting thought on how they feel
about the work done during the retreat.
