Proclamation
by the
Mayor of the City of Anna, Texas
Greetings:
Whereas, We are here today to express special recognition to Shelli Conway and to honor her
for her distinguished seventeen years of service to the Anna Independent School District’s Board
of Trustees; and
Whereas, Shelli began her service in 2007, while holding various positions including Member,
Secretary, Vice President and Board President. Graduated from Leadership TASB in 2020 as a
Master Trustee, showcasing a commitment to continuous leadership growth. Served as the board
president of the LTASB Alumni Association in 2024, continuing her leadership within the
educational community; and
Whereas, Shelli’s key contributions include founding member of the Anna ISD Education
Foundation in 2008, supporting educational initiatives, and helped establish the Anna ISD
Ambassador Academy in 2017, promoting leadership and community engagement; and
Whereas, Student population grew from 2,000 to over 6,000 and staff expanded from 271 to 851
employees. Shelli played a vital role in the development of Anna High School in 2011, Judith
Lindsey Harlow Elementary in 2017, Anna ISD Sports Complex in 2017, Rosamond-Sherley
Elementary in 2022, Clemons Creek Middle School in 2023, Administration Building opening in
2024 and L. Dow Hendricks Elementary opening in 2025; and
Whereas, Shelli Anna High School graduate, Class of 1986, married to Wayne (AHS Class of
1983), Mother of Austin (AHS Class of 2013), daughter-in-law Caroline, and proud grandmother
of Camden; and
Whereas, Shelli leaves a legacy as a dedicated leader who has left a lasting impact on the
students, staff, and community of Anna Independent School District.
Whereas, on behalf of the entire City Council, I want to express my sincere appreciation to
Shelli for her dedication to Anna Independent School District and wish her much happiness as
she begins this exciting new chapter in her life.
Now, Therefore, I, Pete Cain, Mayor of the City of Anna, do hereby proclaim Thursday,
November 21, 2024, as:
“SHELLI CONWAY DAY”
in the City of Anna and urge all citizens and Anna Independent School District employees to join
me in congratulating Shelli on an outstanding service career with Anna Independent School
District, and extend to Shelli, Wayne and her family our best wishes of happiness and good
health in the future.
