Meeting Minutes

1. Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of Quorum.
Chairperson Theresa King -Bell called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.
and established quorum.
Commission Members Present:

Others in Attendance:

2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.
Commission Member Nichole Hunt provided an invocation and led the
Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Neighbor's Input.
Betty Sharp of 10282 County Road 288 provided comments about the
Texas A&M Forestry Service 2022 report and the comprehensive plan
review.
4. Reports
a. Events and Programs Update.
Taylor Lough gave a recap of programs and events that occurred citywide
in November and are planned in December.
5. Items for Individual Consideration
a. Consider/Discuss/Act advising the City Council in regard to freezing
property taxes for Anna Senior Citizens.
Taylor Lough provided a presentation.
Jodi Foster stated she would like to revise her proposal regarding advising
a seniortax freeze and suggested advising the City Council to create a task
force to review how property taxes affect seniors. Elijah Nelms
recommended advising the City Council to form a coalition to review.
MOTION: Commission Member Elijah Nelms moved to advise take no
action in advising the City Council Commission in regard to freezing
property taxes for Anna Senior Citizens. Member Jodi Foster seconded.
Motion passed 6-0.
MOTION: Chairperson Theresa King -Bill moved to add
"Con si der/Act/D iscu ss advisi n g th e C ity Council to form a coalition to review
property tax programs for senior citizens" to the Individual Consideration
portion of the January Neighbor Engagement and Inclusion Advisory
Commission Meeting. Member Yoshanda Sims seconded. Motion passed
6-0.
b. Consider/Discuss/Act approval of the minutes from the October 28, 2024,
Neighbor Engagement and Inclusion Advisory Commission Meeting.
MOTION: Commission Member Theresa King -Bell moved to approve the
minutes of the October 28, 2024, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory
Commission Meeting. Commission Member Elijah Nelms seconded. Motion
6-0.
7. Adjourn.
Chairperson Theresa King -Bell adjourned the meeting at 7:04 p.m.
