ANNA PARK BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
Monday, April 25, 2011
The Park Board of the City of Anna held a regular meeting on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 7:00
p.m. in the Community Room of the Anna City Hall Administration Building, located at 111 North
Powell Parkway (Hwy 5), to consider the following items.
1. Call to order at 7:00 pm and establishment of quorum.
Park Board members present were Jon Hendrix, Erin Coger, Rachel Lyon and Kelly Bailey.
Maurice Schwanke, Becky Glover, Erik Alvarez and James Parkman were also present.
2. Placement of Ducks
Since we do not know if ducks can survive due to the presence of bobcats, we thought it
would be alright to let Jon's wife put some ducks out in Natural Springs to see what happens
to them. If they survive then we can address other issues at a later time.
3. Smartscape Garden located at Slatyer Creek Park
Becky knows some ladies who might like to work on that project. She will contact them.
4. Community Garden
The Park Board would like the Community Garden Issue put it on the website to see how
many people would be interested.
More research needs to be done in these areas:
How many people do we need to get started?
What do we need to do to prepare the soil and provide water?
Is there a way to lock the garden?
What happens if someone forgets to turn the water off?
Can we use the well that is nearby?
How do we keep people from 4 wheeling all over the garden area?
Would the school agriculture department be willing to start the community garden?
5. Softball
The Park Board recommends the use of certified umpires to avoid older players being able
to intimidate young inexperienced umpires. There will be six teams per day. Men will play
on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Co-ed will play on Mondays and Wednesdays. If each
teams plays twice there will be 30 games. Teams should be responsible for trash pick-up.
We will raise the price to $350.00 per team to cover maintenance costs. June 6 is the first
game. We are still open to accepting bids for concessions.
6. Minutes
Erin motioned to accept the minutes of March 21, 2011. Jon made a motion to second. The
motion carried.
7. Adjourn —
Erin made a motion to adjourn. Jon seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at
8:22 p.m.
