ANNA PARK BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
Monday, June 25, 2012
The Park Board of the City of Anna held a special meeting on, Monday June 25, 2012 at 7:00
p.m. in the Community Room of the Anna City Hall Administration Building, located at 111 North
Powell Parkway (Hwy 5), to consider the following items.
1. Call to order at 7:07 pm and establishment of quorum. Park Board members present
were Lauren Lovato, Erin Cogar, Jon Hendricks and Rachel Lyon. Also present were
Maurice Schwanke, Becky Glover and Erik Alvarez. Sara Cox addressed the meeting on
behalf of the Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce
2. Act on recommendation for fireworks display for the Wh of July
The celebration will be held Wednesday July 0. At the football stadium the program
starts at 9:15. The program will consist of the presentation of colors (flag raising),
recognition of military in the audience, pledge of allegiance, national anthem invocation
and fireworks choreographed to music.
We will use the same fireworks company as we used last year.
Daddy Rex will sell ice cream and small snacks.
Glow necklaces will be given away.
Katana Real Estate will be giving away fans.
Sara has hung two banners for advertising and was interviewed for a newspaper article
detailing the agenda of the program and getting the word out that the city wants to fund
safe and fun fireworks at home.
The EDC and CDC contributed $5,000 each to this project.
Sara met with police and fire personnel on site to verify safety precautions.
There is a demolition area in Slayter Creek Park that needs to be fenced off for safety.
Rachel made a motion to accept the proposal. Lauren seconded and the motion carried.
3. Application to the Collin County Open Space Grant Program
The first application would construct a walking trail along the west side of Creekside
Addition.
The Second would construct a trail system adjacent to the Pecan Grove Addition.
Rachel made the motion to go forward with both grant proposals. Lauren seconded it.
The motion carried.
4. Park Board Minutes of May 7th, 2012. Erin made a motion to accept the minutes. Lauren
seconded it. The motion carried.
5. Adjourn -- Erin made a motion to adjourn. Lauren seconded. Motion carried. Meeting
adjourned at 7:33 pm.
