RESOLUTION NO. 2009 -OS-6A
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE ORDERING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION
TO ELECT A REPLACEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEMBER TO FILL A VACANCY
IN CITY COUNCIL PLACE 6.
WHEREAS, during the general election held May 10, 2008 no eligible candidate was
elected to Place 6 of the City of Anna City Council ("City Council"), constituting a
vacancy in this position; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the City Charter, Article 3, Section 3.05(d), the City
Council may call a special election to fill said vacancy; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that calling a special election to fill this
vacancy is in the best interest of the citizens of the City Of Anna;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANNA, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1. Recitals incorporated.
The above recitals are hereby incorporated as if set forth in full for all purposes.
Section 2. Special Election to be Called.
The City of Anna, Texas ("City") hereby resolves that it intends to order a special
election for the purpose of filling the vacant position of Place 6 on the Anna City
Council, said election to be held November 7, 2008. The Council intends to adopt an
ordinance calling the special election as soon as the dates for earty voting and other
aspects necessary to order said election can be determined.
