HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 2008-06-05 Establishing Standard Parade Route.pdfCITY OF ANNA, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 2008-06-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A STANDARD PARADE ROUTE FOR AUTHORIZED PARADES AND PROCESSIONS WITHIN THE CITY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas ("City Council") recognizes that parades and processions periodically occur within the corporate limits of the City of Anna, Texas ("City") and that these events serve a public purpose; WHEREAS, the City Council strives to create policies that foster the general safety and orderly traffic flan within the City, as possible; WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that as growth occurs in the City, a standard parade route is needed to provide for the safety of the participants of the event; WHEREAS, the City has collaborated with Anna Fire and Rescue, Inc., the Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce and the Anna Independent School District to determine the best possible route for parades and processions within the City; and WHEREAS, the City will ensure, to the extent required, that the appropriate authorization is obtained from the Texas Department of Transportation prior to each individual event that will require the closure of a state highway along the standard parade route; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ANNA, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. Recitals incorporated. The above recitals are hereby incorporated as if set forth in full for all purposes. Section 2. Establishment of Standard Parade Route 2.01 The City Council establishes the following route as the "standard parade route" to be followed during all authorized parades and processions within the City: Start and finish point will be the current high school site (1201 N. Powell Pkwy). Organizers and event participants will stage there. The route for the parade will go south on Hwy 5 from the school to 4u' Street; east on 4" Street to Riggins; north on Riggins to RESOLUTION NO. 2008.0605 Parade Routa.dm PAGE 1 OF 2 06.24-0 Anthony; west on Anthony to Hwy 5; north on Hwy 5 back to the current high school site. 2.02 The City Council further authorizes the City Manager to enter into subsequent agreements with the State of Texas acting through the Texas Department of Transportation relating to road closures for parades and processions. oeccrn by the City Council of Anna.
