A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NNA, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF
A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ANNA FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE CITY
OF VAN ALSTYNE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas, recognizes that a mutual aid agreement
between entities that offers fire suppression services may improve the ability of such entities to
provide effective fire suppression services, especially in the event of a major fire, disaster, or
other major emergency;
WHEREAS, the Anna Fire Department and the City of Van Alstyne Fire Protection District
contemplate entering into such a mutual aid agreement ("the Agreement"};
WHEREAS, the geographic boundaries of the parties to the Agreement are, in this case, located
in such manner as to enable each party to render mutual aid service to the other;
WHEREAS, the City of Anna's corporate boundaries are within the area that would receive fire
protection services in connection with the Agreement at issue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anna is a separate
contemplating entering into the Agreement;
and distinct entity from either of the parties
WHEREAS, the City of Anna will not itself be a party to the Agreement, but will likely benefit as
a result of the Agreement;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA,
TEXAS, THAT
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Anna, Texas, desires that the Anna Fire
Department and the City of Van Alstyne Fire Protection District enter into a mutual aid
agreement substantially similar to the form of agreement attached to this Resolution as Exhibit
«A„
Section 2. By adopting this Resolution, the City Council of the City of Anna publicly voices
its support for the existence of such an agreement and urges the Anna Fire Department and the
City of Van Alstyne Fire Protection District to enter into such an agreement.

officer in charge ot a lue unit or an emergency medical service unit at the scene
of an emergency, or either party, is authorized to request assistance from the other
party ifconfronted with an emergency situation at which the requesting party has
need for equipment or personnel in excess of that available at the requesting
party's fire department.

available to respond to the requesting party and determine the nature
of the equipment and number of personnel available,

should be dispatched in accordance -with the operating plans and

types of and locations of potential problem areas where emergency assistance
may be needed, the type of equipment that should be dispatched under various
possible circumstances and the number of personnel that should be dispatched
under such circumstances. Such plans shall take into consideration and insure the
proper protection by the responding party of its own geographical area.
