HomeMy WebLinkAboutDImin2022-05-03THE CITY OF Anna MINUTES DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING 111 N Powell Parkway, Anna, TX 75409 Tuesday, May 3, 2022 @ 6:30 PM 1. Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of Quorum. Called to order at 6:30 p.m. Quorum was met. Present: Dyanne Lockridge, Alfredo Fernandez, Sinisa Slavnic, Roxxanne Aragon, Rose Williams, Gina Maria Ottavio, Maria Ervin, and Kimberly Jones. Absent: Pete Cain, Alycia Green, and Blair Benjamin. 2. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Neighbor's Input. At this time, any person may address the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission regarding an item on this meeting agenda that is not scheduled for public hearing. Also, at this time any person may address the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission regarding an item that is not on this meeting agenda. Each person will be allowed up to 3 minutes to speak. No discussion or action may be taken at this meeting on items not listed on this agenda, other than to make statements of specific information in response to a citizen's inquiry or to recite existing policy in response to the inquiry. No comments. 4. Reports. a. City Developments: Inclusive Easter Eggs. Jeff Freeth gave an update and demonstration of our inclusive Easter Eggs used at our Easter events. b. Anna Public Library Task Force Update. Alfredo gave a brief update at the conclusion of the Library Task Force. C. Community Events and Programming Subcommittee Update. Staff gave a brief update on the Juneteenth event as well as on a possible community listening for cultural events in the future. 5. Items For Individual Consideration. a. April Conversation Starter. Roxxanne led the group in a conversation on how to be more inclusive of neighbors with disabilities. Ideas came up about including inclusive elements in our Block Party Trailer and related to parking and events. b. May Conversation Starter. Dyanne led the group in a discussion of her life experiences and how they pertain to the generational biases that exist. C. Consider/Act/Discuss Approval of Minutes from the March 1, 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission Meeting. Motion to approve by Maria Ervin. Seconded by Gina Maria Ottavio. Motion passed 8-0-0. d. Consider/Act/Discuss Approval of Minutes from the April 5, 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission Meeting. Motion to approve by Kimberly Jones. Persons with a disability who want to attend this meeting who may need assistance should contact the Assistant City Manager's office at 972-924-3325 two working days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Seconded by Dyanne Lockridge. Motion passed 8-0-0. 6. Adjourn.
