HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 2002-10 Water Tap-Deposit-Reconnect.pdfCITY OF ANNA, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 2002-10 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS, REVISING ORDINANCE NO. 98- 14 BY REVISING THE WATER DEPOSIT AMOUNT, REVISING THE RECONNECTION CHARGE, AND REVISING TAP FEES; ESTABLISHING A REPEAL CLAUSE; ESTABLISHING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the deposit required for water and sewer service connections is often inadequate to cover final bills; and WHEREAS, the reconnection fee for restoring water service is inadequate to cover the costs incurred by the City to provide such service; and WHEREAS, existing ordinances do not specify a tap fee for two inch (2") meters; now therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS, THAT Section 1. Meter Deposit Section 4(b) of Ordinance No.98-14 is hereby revised to read as follows: Each water customer shall pay a deposit of $150.00 to the City of Anna at the time of application for connection as security for payment of bills for water service. The deposit shall be retained by the City until the customer is disconnected. Section 2. Reconnection Charge Section 3 of Ordinance No. 98-14 is revised by changing the reconnection fee from ten dollars ($10.00) to fifty dollars ($50.00), by deleting the final sentence in Section 3 and replacing it with the following: A reconnection fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) shall be assessed to any customer who turns on his/her water without authorization or for whom the City has to remove his/her meter for security reasons. Section 3. Water Tans Section 2 of Ordinance No. 98-14 is revised to read as follows: The following charges shall be made to new customers for water taps in the City of Anna: Water Tap Size Charge 3/4" -1" $ 750.00 2" $1,000.00 Above 4" $3,500.00 Sewer Tap $ 750.00 An additional charge of $150.00 will be assessed if street has to be cut or a bore has to be made to make the tap. Page 1 of 2 Section 4. Reveal Clause All parts of any ordinance in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are to the extent of such conflict hereby repealed. Section 5. Savinas Clause If any provision of this ordinance shall be held to be invalid or unconstitutional, the remainder of such ordinance shall continue in full force and effect the same as if such invalid or unconstitutional provision had never been a part hereof. Section 6. Effective Date This ordinance shall be effective upon the posting and/or publication of its caption as required by law and the City Secretary is hereby directed to implement such posting and/or publication.
