ORDINANCE NO. 2002-18
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS, AMENDING THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANNA BY PROVIDING A DEFINITION OF
MASONRY; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council have
expressed concern about the widespread use of cementatious materials as external siding on
new homes in the City's subdivisions; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended that such cementatious
materials, including Hardie Plank, not be considered as a masonry material under the City's
zoning and building regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anna has considered this recommendation and
believes that the interests of residents and property owners of the city are best served by
accepting the recommendation;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA,
TEXAS:
Section 1. The Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance of the City of Anna, Texas, is
amended by adding paragraph (72.a) to Section 4, to read as follows:
(72.a) Masonry — means brick, tile, stone, glass block, or concrete block but
excluding cement fiber or other similar veneer material.
Section 2. All ordinances of the City of Anna in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are
repealed to the extent of that conflict.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and approval
as the law in such case provides.
