Called to Order by Theresa Bell @ 6:34pm, Roll Call by Dallen Morgan Theresa Bell, Bell, Dallen Morgan, Elijah Nelms, Elizabeth Knapp, Sinisa Slavnic; Absent - Alfredo Fernandez, Chris Prothro) and Establishment of Quorum was made. 2. Invocation by Dallen Morgan and Pledge of Allegiance by all. 3. Neighbor's Input.- No neighbors present At this time, any person may address the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission regarding an item on this meeting agenda that is not scheduled for public hearing. Also, at this time any person may address the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission regarding an item that is not on this meeting agenda. Each person will be allowed up to 3 minutes to speak. No discussion or action may be taken at this meeting on items not listed on this agenda, other than to make statements of specific information in response to a citizen's inquiry or to recite existing policy in response to the inquiry. 4. Reports. a. Police and Public Safety Subcommittee Report. Dean's doing a fantastic job, great for city (Elijah) 2/3 were present, topics- regular review of police department, police camera use, conceal and open carry laws, approaches to take as a citizen with a gun, jurisdictions, fantastic discussions (Theresa) Meeting monthly is too much, maybe every other month would be better, allow time for more questions. b. Community Events and Programming Subcommittee Report. Meeting this Thursday at noon (9/8/22) c. Improving City Council communication. Summary from the updates from all the board to the city council (Kimberly) d. Engagement opportunities: fall activities. - Kimberly presented volunteer opportunities available on the website Dallen will ask Jeff about senior programming on the Community Events and Programming Subcommittee Call e. Engagement opportunities: City Hall ribbon cutting details. - next Tuesday (9/13) at 6pm, with tours of the building to follow (Kimberly) 5. Items For Individual Consideration. Persons with a disability who want to attend this meeting who may need assistance should contact the Assistant City Manager's office at 912-924-3325 two working days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. a. Consider/Act/Discuss ideas for upcoming projects. Ideas that come from staff for possible review and program development Sister cities (match with another city that has some cultural connection with you) Emergency Management (network to tap into) hyper reach is already in place, sign up for this under the website - Public art in the future in downtown area (why and how?) - Board recruitment and retention, with city secretary and city manager Accessibility for the building- innovations that other cities have adopted and look at as a whole board (Possible joint council meeting about what we are supposed to do - Kimberly is speaking with city manager to find a likely time, will happen during the regular board meeting) b. Consider/act/discuss approval of a resolution updating rules and procedures for council and board meetings. Theresa Bell calls for a motion to vote, Dallen Morgan 211d, Vote unanimously passes. Item will go to City Council with revised writing. c. Consider/act/discuss September Conversation Starter. (Moved to present prior to 5b) Elijah Nelms conversation starters. Fallacies and Bias d. Consider/act/discuss approval of the minutes for the August 2, 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Commission meeting. Motion for vote called by Theresa Bell, 2"d by Sin osa Slavnic, vote unanimously passes 6. Adjourn.
