ORDINANCE No. 56A-2003
An ordinance of the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas, calling for a regular
municipal election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two members of the City
Council, places 1, and 5 for May 3, 2003, designating a polling place; appointing an
election judge; providing for early voting; providing for notice of said election and
finding and determining that the meeting at which this ordinance was adopted was open
to the public as required by law.
Whereas, pursuant to state law and ordinance of the City of Anna, Texas, setting and
establishing council seats by place, expiring in May 2003;
Whereas, the spring election date under the Texas election code is Saturday, May 3,
2003;
Whereas the City Council of the City of Anna, Texas, is under duty to call said election
for the purpose of filling the office of Mayor, Council Member Place 1, and Council
Member Place 5 for May 3, 2003; therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the
City of Anna, Texas;
Section 1: That a regular municipal election is hereby called for Saturday May 3,
2003.
Section 2: That the polling place for such election shall be at the City of Anna City
Hall located at 101 N. Powell Parkway, Anna, Texas, and the time of the
polling shall be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the date of the election.
Section 3: That Peggy Hall is hereby appointed as the election judge for said
election, and is hereby authorized to appoint two election clerks for the
proper conduct of said election.
Section 4: That presiding judge shall also serve as presiding judge of the early voting
ballot board.
Section 5: That the period for the making of an application to be placed on the ballot
and the time and manner of casting in the early ballot shall be held and
conducted in a manner consistent with the provisions of the Texas
Election Code and the person designated for the purposes of receiving
applications to be placed on the ballot and conduct early voting shall be
the City Secretary, City of Anna, Texas.
Section 6: That the City Secretary of the City of Anna is hereby ordered to cause
notice and posting of this election to be made in a manner conforming to
the requirements of the election code of the State of Texas.
Section 7: The City Council of the City of Anna finds and determines that the
meeting at which this ordinance was passed meets the requirements of
Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, as well as open to the public
as required by law.
Section 8: That this ordinance and order for an election shall be effective from and
after it's passage.
Motion to adopt was made by Council Member Finley, seconded by Council Member
Dhane. All Aye
