ORDINANCE NO. 146-2004
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2001-01 (SIGN REGULATIONS) BY
LIMITING TEMPORARY PROMOTIONAL SIGNS FOR RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS
TO SUBDIVISIONS LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF ANNA AND PROHIBITING
OFF -PREMISES OUTDOOR SIGNS WITHIN THE CITY AND THE
EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTIOIN OF THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS
CLAUSE; SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO
EXCEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000.00) FOR VIOLATION OF THIS
ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anna has determined that the regulation of signs is
necessary to the orderly growth, aesthetic appearance, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, the proliferation of temporary promotional signs advertising subdivisions and
projects outside the city limits of the City of Anna is not considered to be fair and reasonable to
developers and/or builders inside the citv limits of Anna: and
WHEREAS, the location of off -premises outdoor signs in the city and its extraterritorial
jurisdiction is an aesthetic nuisance and interferes with the City's ability to properly plan for the
development of the community; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANNA, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. TEMPORARY PROMOTIONAL SIGNS
Section 49 shall be added to read:
Temporary promotional signs for residential subdivision developments shall be restricted to
subdivisions located inside the corporate limits of the City of Anna. The Code Enforcement
Officer is authorized to remove signs that are in violation of this provision.
SECTION 2. OFF -PREMISES SIGNS PROHIBITED

jurisdiction, such conflict or adjudication shall not affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole,
or any such section, article, sentence, or part hereof not so adjudged in conflict, invalid, or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 5. CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND REGULATIONS REPEALED
All ordinances and/or parts of all ordinances in conflict with the provisions of the sign regulations
herein are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage, approval, and required
publication.
