WciEREAS, the major envi=onr.,ent_l issues facing local governments

i*'ri=?C=.S, the State of Texas has adacted a solid masse management

sour=_ r=_ducc'_on, r=ecycling, composting, waste -to -
energy, and l=andfill dismosal; and,
W_F=E.AS, the C011in Counter Solid Waste Management Task Force,
ccmcrised of _amresentatives from Collin County, local
ccmmunities, the Nor -ft Texas Municipal Water Dist=ic=,
the North Canc_=_1 Texas Council of Governments and
r=_pr=_sanzati*res _=om the privata sector, has developed
a Solid Was --a Management Plan; and,
WHZRZAS, the Solid Was -ca Management Plan addresses short -t=_* -.m,
mid-t-rm. and long-term wast_ manaaement needs and
identifies programs and t_cnologies for addressing
these needs; anal,
WFE-REAS, the City Counc41 of the City cif Anna reccanizes
the resnonsihi_it✓ of local governments for providing
for the envie=rimental and cost-effecmive management of
Solid waste; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Anna wishes to pard=' -nate in and lend
their support za the Collin County Area Solid Waste
Management Plan.
NOW, THE?E=ORE BE IT P.ESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF Anna
T . S, THAT:
Section 1. The City Council of the Citv of Anna Texas,
acknowledaes the importance of and lends
support to the Collin County Area Solid Waste
Management Plan.
Section Z. The City of Anna ws SSS to
pardcipat_ in the Collin Countv Area Solid Waste
Management Plan and may volunzarily execute and
par-ciainate in orograms to reduce the
environmental impacts of waste management.
