HomeMy WebLinkAboutPBmin2018-08-20Minutes ANNA PARK BOARD MEETING August 20, 2018 The Park Board of the City of Anna held a regular scheduled meeting on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Room of Anna City Hall Administration Building, located at 111 North Powell Parkway (Hwy 5), to consider the following items. 1. Call to order and establishment of quorum The meeting was called to order at 7:16 p.m. Members present were Andrew Michrina, Judith Waldrop, Kirby Barrett and Ginny Finan. Danna Ward, Aubrey Johnson and Sherry Slate were absent. Staff present was Maurice Schwanke and Matt Lewis. City Council attendees were Councilman Kevin Toten and Stan Carver. 2. Anna Harvest Fest Special Event Permit The annual Harvest Fest event (formerly Glow Fest) sponsored by the Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Saturday, October 27th, with an alternate date of November 3rd. The event this year will be held at Slayter Creek Park. The event includes the following: • a children's area with bounce houses • community partners (trick/or treat candies, games) • carshow • live music with stage and vendors GACC is working with the Anna Fire and Police Departments to coordinate public safety and the directing of traffic and pedestrians in and around the area. Parking for the event will be at the Anna High School where buses will provide transportation to the event. Preparation for the event will start on Saturday Morning, October 27th with clean up continuing Sunday following the event. A motion was made by Judith Waldrop, seconded by Ginny Finan to recommend the approval to City Council for final regarding the Special Event Permit. Motion Carried 3. Homecoming Parade Special Event Permit The Anna ISD has proposed to conduct a "Home Coming Parade' to be held on Rosamond Parkway between the Anna High School and Slayter Creek Park on Monday, September 10". The Parade will start at approximately 6:30 p.m. The parade will consist of trailer float(s) a few cars for homecoming nominee, band and cheerleaders. The participants other than vehicles and floats will then proceed into the football stadium for a PEP rally. Persons with a disability who want to attend this meeting who may need assistance should contact the Planning and Development Department, at 972-924-2616 two working days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. A motion was made by Judith Waldrop, seconded by Andrew Michrina to recommend approval to City Council at their next meeting for final approval regarding the Homecoming parade. Motion Carried Consider/Discuss/Action on opening Natural Springs Park restroom time of operation in the evenings and weekends. A motion was made by Ginny Finan to consider restroom time of operation when the parking lot is complete. Judith Waldrop seconded the motion. Motion Carried. 5. Consider/Discuss/Action on amending approved minutes of April 16, 2018 A motion was made by Ginny Finan, seconded to Kirby Barrett to recommend approval of the amended April 16, 2018 minutes. Motion Carried 6. Park Minutes- July 16, 2018 A motion was made by Kirby Barrett, seconded by Judith Waldrop to recommend approval of the July 16, 2018 minutes. 7. Adjourn A motion was made by Kirby Barrett, seconded by Andrew Michrina to adjourn meeting.
